How to Have Your Own Style ? ^__^

Steps

Start Where You Already Are

You may have developed your own style without even knowing it. Take a closer look at what kinds of clothes you already own

1) Assess your wardrobe. Look in your closet and drawers and take note of the kinds of clothes you have already purchased for yourself. You will probably see some patterns of your buying behavior.

2) Pull your absolute favorite clothes out of the closet and line them up on your bed. Only pick clothes that you love and could never part with.

3) Look at each outfit you have chosen and ask yourself why you love it.

  • Is it comfortable?
  • Does it make you feel sexy? Powerful? Fun?
  • Think about how you feel every time you wear each of your favorite outfits. Is there a common denominator?

4) Decide if you wear clothes to impress others or to feel good while you are wearing them. Do you lean towards “fashion over comfort” or “comfort over fashion?”

5) Are your favorite outfits appropriate for most of your daily activities?

  • Do you tend to buy clothes that you are drawn to, even if they are utterly impractical for your lifestyle? If so, those clothes are definitely “your style.”
  • If you gravitate towards hot pink sundresses, but you have to wear a tailored business suit to work, try to take a bit of your style with you every day—add a colorful silk scarf to your ensemble and the longest earrings allowable at your place of employment. You won’t be wearing your hot pink sundress, but you will have a more individual look that expresses your personality.

Consult the Experts

If you find that your wardrobe is a hodgepodge of yesterday’s sales, with no particular theme, then you might want to consult sources with some fashion savvy.

1) Buy at least 3 fashion magazines and 3 other types of women’s magazines and look at every outfit on every model.

2) Cut out pictures of all the clothing styles you like. Don’t over think it; look at the picture and make an instant decision. If you love it, cut it out and put it aside.

3) Divide the magazine pictures into as many categories as correspond to your lifestyle. For example, you could have 1 pile labeled “casual,” one pile labeled “work” and one pile labeled “formal.”

4) Sift through each category pile and note the similarities.

  • Does your casual category predominantly contain pictures of velour jogging suits or blue jeans?
  • Are the blouses and tops frilly or severe?
  • Is everything loose and flowing or tight and restrictive?
  • The answers to these questions should help you identify your personal style.

Shop Around

Go window shopping, especially if you are a tactile person. The feel of the fabric may be just as important to you as the color and the style.

1) Try shopping in vintage clothing stores or thrift stores. These types of stores tend to have a wide variety of styles, representing people from all walks of life. And remember, even if you look at 40 dresses and you don’t like any of them, at least you know what you don’t like.

2) Go to a modern dress shop or to the women’s department in a large store. Seek the advice of the sales personnel. Most often, sales clerks know their department and they can give you good advice. Be sure you trust the person you are asking so that you are confident you are receiving helpful advice and not false compliments meant only to induce you to purchase something.

3) Start noticing the clothing others are wearing that you admire. Think about why a particular outfit appeals to you. You might even feel confident enough to ask her where she got her clothes.

Getting Down to Basics

No matter what your personal style turns out to be, there are some staples you should always have on hand.

1) Buy a basic black dress if you don’t already own one. A simple black dress is suitable for almost any occasion. You can always dress it up with accessories.

2) Keep a variety of belts; wide, narrow, black and decorative. A belt can instantly change the look of an outfit.

3) Use scarves as accessories. Long scarves can be worn around your waist and short scarves can be loosely tied around your neck to enhance anything you are wearing. You can even use a scarf as a headband to tie back your hair.

4) Get a variety of nylons and other legwear. Opaque tights, especially ones with patterns, are great to wear with short skirts.

5) Fill your jewelry box with basic earrings and necklaces. A pair of simple silver hoop earrings worn with a tailored shirt and designer jeans is perfect for many occasions.

6) Consider getting a few camisoles or tees. They can be worn underneath a variety of blouses and make shear materials wearable.

7) Have at least one black sweater and one basic blazer. A blazer can be worn with dress slacks or jeans.

8) Hang on to a few outfits in neutral shades even if you prefer colorful, wild prints. Some dresses and suits are timeless and are the only appropriate dress wear for somber events.

9) Keep at least 2 pairs of stylish, comfortable shoes and a few pairs of sandals in your closet. You can never go wrong with a pair of glossy leather pumps.

Things you will need :
  • Magazines
  • Scissors
  • Full length mirror (optional)
  • Black dress
  • Jeans
  • Simple accessories (belts, scarves, jewelry)

How to Apply Makeup :D

Steps

Before You Begin The Makeup

1) Determine what type of skin you have: oily, combination, perfectly moisturized, dry, etc. Many cosmetic counters have someone there that can do a preliminary analysis of your skin and recommend some products. If you are on a budget, see what the professional at the cosmetic counter recommends, then go to your local and find a similar product for way less money.

Apply Face Makeup

1) Start with a freshly-washed face, (and hands, too). Get a facial, or do one yourself. You want your face to be a clear and smooth canvas for you, the "artist," to do your art. Use a good deep-cleansing mask. Do not exfoliate if you have oily or sensitive skin. It will spread bacteria around your face from the already existing blemishes. Use antibacterial soap if you have acne. Also be sure that you replace the towel you use to dry your face every week. Lastly, apply toner by taking a cotton pad that has been dampened in warm water and sweep it over your face. Toner will restore the pH level of your skin and pick up any remaining dirt. Make sure you look pretty. Try thinking of a good cleanser that you can use. Then apply toner, and moisturizer.

2) Massage a light moisturizer into your face no matter what skin type you have.Always avoiding the eye area. You could also apply your moisturizer with your foundation brush or sponge if you have one. This will help oily skin dry, and dry skin become smoother. Wait a few minutes for it to soak into your skin.

3) Apply a foundation primer before you apply any foundation or tinted moisturizer. The foundation primer will smooth out the skin surface, make applying foundation easier, and make your makeup last longer.

 4) Apply a sheer foundation that matches your skin tone. Tip: If a liquid foundation has SPF in it, it's NOT good for taking flash photography. Use the ones without SPF instead if you don't want to look too flashed out on your face.

To find the right one, go to the makeup counter at a local department store and have the artist there help you.

5) Wear illuminator to make your skin appear youthful and dewy compared with dull, matte makeup. Skin illuminator's come in powder, cream, mousse, etc. L'Oréal®, Revlon®, Neutrogena®, and other brands make them - it's like make up with tiny particles that reflect light.

  • Use a makeup sponge or wedge, starting around the hairline and working your way down. (Use the wedge for this routine because you can be more precise about where the make up goes.) If you want a proper look that looks as if it has been done by a professional makeup artist, try using a foundation brush.
  • Remember to apply the makeup all the way down to your throat area and keep blending so you can't see where the make up ends. Nothing is worse than looking like you have a mask on your face.
  • Around the eye area, do very light strokes inward, toward the inner corner of your eye. Don't apply it to your upper eyelid. All of the professional makeup artists say not to apply foundation to this area. This is why you need a foundation that matches your skin. If you want foundation to darken your skin then try putting it above your eyes, and see what you like. Be gentle with this part, because the skin is very delicate and sensitive here.

6) Apply concealer to any red or discolored spots. In the corners of your eyes, where it's red, around the nostrils, and under the eyes (to make you look more awake) are good places for this. Do this after applying foundation, so you don't use too much. First apply the concealer, then pat very lightly with your finger to blend. Only apply concealer to the area that you want to conceal. Afterward, use the wedge to blend the concealer in with the foundation. Stand back away from your mirror to see if you have effectively concealed the areas. Try to stand about the distance away from the mirror that you stand away from people when you talk to them. Another way to conceal blemishes is to pat green concealer on the blemishes and red spots, then put foundation over top (the green reduces redness).

7) Apply a loose powder all over the face using a powder brush. Pat it into the powder; then, with a paper towel, tap the brush so the excess falls off the brush. Lightly brush across the whole face. Use a powder puff (small) to apply powder on the upper lid. Apply a bronzer to your forehead, cheeks, and chin, to give a sun-kissed look,if wanted.

8) Highlight your brow bone, cheek bones, and cupid's bow by applying a light powder just below the brow, and to the highest part of your cheek.

9) Apply a small amount of blush to the apples of your cheeksSmile so you can see the apple of your cheek. Start the application at the apple and drag the blush outward toward your temple, following your cheek bone. Blend the color down a bit below your cheekbone in towards your earlobe.

  • If you added too much color to the brush, use the clear side of your wedge to blend it in more until the color is faded out a bit. Your cheeks should have a hint of color. You don't want to look like a clown.

10) Contour your face, especially if you have "hidden" cheekbones. To do so you will need a brown tone of powder, don't make it ultra brown, but a milk-chocolatey kind of color. Apply a it on the brush and apply it under your cheek bones, starting from the temple and going down until underneath the apple of your cheek. Don't make it too obvious as it's meant to look like a shadow. Then, on top of your cheek bones take a white or really light skin tone powder and apply it, right between your eye and your cheek bone, again until the temple, and voila. You have cheek bones.

11) Take a fluffy powder brush and blend everything together, so that there are no visible lines or excess powders.

Apply Eye Makeup

1) Line your eyes. Line it with a brown or soft black liner. For a more appealing look, apply liner with very light strokes to the upper lid, stroking toward the outer corner of the eye. To blend, use an angle brush. For a more natural look, dip the angle brush in some of your darker eyeshadow. Use a very light amount, or use the applicator tip. For the bottom lid, use a very light amount on the outer corner.

2) Put on the eyeshadow. Most eye colors come with two or three colors on the palette. The lighter color is for the lid. The darker color is for the crease on the lid, just below the eye bone. Apply the lighter tone first to the lid, spreading upwards to near the crease. For this, use the applicator that came inside the package. For the darker color, using your eyeshadow brush, dip into eye color and tap the brush to lose the excess. Apply inside the crease of the eye. You can find the crease by looking straight ahead. Your eye makes its own crease. Blend the color toward the outer corner of your eye. Sometimes you can blend it around to the bottom lid, but very lightly. The lightest color is for under the brow bone. Use the applicator to apply right on the brow bone just under the brow line. Make sure to use the larger eyeshadow brush to blend all the colors.

3) Use eyebrow pencil color that is very close to your natural eyebrow color. Here you just want to fill in missing areas. (It might behoove you to visit a makeup person that can arch your eyebrows correctly. If you've never done it yourself, have someone do it for you.) Your eyebrow should look very natural. If you do apply eyebrow pencil to any part of your eyebrow, use the angled brush to blend it into your brow with very light strokes.

4) Use a lash curler before applying any mascara. There are several mascaras to choose from depending on the look you want. If you have short lashes, use a mascara that will add length; if you have thin lashes, use a volumizing mascara. Never pump your mascara brush in and out of the mascara. This causes air pockets. Dip the brush in the mascara once and lightly wipe off the excess onto a paper towel. Looking downward, apply to the top lash with upward strokes. Start with the inner part and work your way outward. Do both eyes with two coats, then let dry. After a few seconds, do the bottom lids. It's better to apply to the very outer part of the lash on the bottom lid. This will open your eye more. An inexpensive way to curl your eye lashes is to take the brush from an older mascara, and use it, after you've washed most of the mascara off.

Apply Lipstick

1) Apply lip balm, primer, or sealer. This will help make all lip products applied last longer and much more vibrant.

2) Line your lips with a liner that matches your lip color. Make sure your lip liner pencil is sharpened, but not too sharp. Line around the natural line of your lips. Trying to create a fuller lip by dragging the lip pencil outside your lip line is for professionals. Usually it makes you look like you're just plain bad at applying makeup. After applying your lip pencil to your lip line, rub your lips together so the lip pencil color spreads inside your lips.

3) Apply lipstick or lip gloss with a brush. It will spread it evenly. It's a good idea to brush your lip brush in your lipstick, then some of your lip gloss for a nice light shine. Blot your freshly painted lips lightly with a tissue. This will make it last longer.

4) Use a pressed powder to lightly powder the rest of your face, and the area under your eyes. Use very light pressure. Keep your pressed powder in your purse for touch ups.

How to Wear a Hermes Scarf ? ^__^

1) Make your Hermes scarf into a small scarf :

  • Fold the scarf in half lengthwise. Repeat this fold three more times.
  • Place the center of your long strand of scarf at the back of your neck and begin wrapping it around your neck.
  • Wrap it once, and then tie a knot in the front, leaving only small tails.

2) Wear your Hermes scarf as a bow :
  • Take two Hermes scarves and fold them lengthwise until you have two long strands.
  • Tie the two folded scarves together
  • Wrap the long piece around your neck once, and tie it either under your chin on ear one ear as you would a bow.

3) Wear your Hermes scarf as a cowl :
  • Fold the scarf in half lengthwise and tie the two ends together into a discreet knot.
  • Put the ring of scarf over your head and lay it loosely around your neck; it will drape over your collarbones and fall into folds.

4) Elegantly drape the scarf over your shoulders. You can either do this over a jack or a light top.

  • Fold the scarf in half, either into a triangle or a rectangle; the choice is up to you. Looking at your ensemble as well as the shape of you body will give you clues about which shape will do your look more justice.

Wear the Scarf on Your Head :
 1)  Braid your Hermes scarf into your hair if your hair is long enough.
  • Fold it in half length-wise, and repeat this same fold 2 to 3 more times, depending on how thin you want the scarf strand to be. You should end up with a scarf around 2” wide, while the length will remain unchanged.
  • Place the scarf at the base of your skull and gather your hair together as you wrap the scarf around them.
  • Tie the scarf into a knot, making sure it is positioned at the back. Take the ends and the hair, and braid together, using each piece of scarf as one hair, so you have 2 parts scarf and one part hair. Tie the end of the braid with the scarf.

2) Transform your Hermes scarf into a headband :

  • Start by folding the scarf the same way you would to braid it you’re your hair.
  • Wrap scarf around your head as you would a regular headband.
  • Tie it at the nape of your neck, under the hair.

 3) Turn your Hermes scarf into a kerchief.
  • Fold the scarf in half into a rectangle.
  • Place it on top of your head and tie the ends at the nape of your neck, under your hair.

4) Make your Hermes scarf into a turban headband.
  • Start with the scarf folded as outlined in the braid section.
  • Center the scarf at the back of your head.
  • Bring the ends forward and twist them around each other once at your forehead.
  • Bring the ends to the back of the head again, and tie the together into a knot.

5) Wear your Hermes scarf like a pirate would.
  • Fold the scarf in half into a triangle and put the scarf over your head with the folded section at your hairline near your forehead and with the point at the back.
  • Bring the side points back behind your ears and tie them above your hair, right beneath the back point.

Wear the Scarf as Clothing

  1) Wear your Hermes scarf as a belt :

  • Fold the scarf in half lengthwise and repeat until you’ve created a strand approximately 2” wide.
  • Thread the folded scarf through belt loops, and tie both ends at your side at the front.
  • If needed, tie 2 scarves together and then use them the same way as a belt.

2) Wear your Hermes scarf as a bikini top. This style is sometimes also referred to as a bandeau.
  • Bunch the scarf up into a long piece.
  • Tie a knot right at the center of the scarf. Pull it tight because this will be placed at the center of your bust.
  • Wrap the scarf over your chest and tie a bow at the end to complete the look.

3) Use your Hermes scarf as a sarong. A sarong—also known as a pareo in Tahiti—is essentially a piece of fabric that is wrapped around the body, either at the waist or around the whole torso. The following is one way to use an Hermes scarf as a sort of wrap skirt.
    • Fold the scarf in half into a triangle and place the center of the folded edge against your left hip at waist-height.
    • Bring the two pointed ends together as you wrap it around the lower half of your body.
    • Tie the scarf at your side

Wear the Scarf as an Accessory

1) Wear your Hermes scarf as a bracelet. If you have a smaller scarf, wrap it around your wrist, and either tie it into a knot or a bow for an unexpected but chic bracelet. You may need someone’s help to accomplish this look.

2) Use your Hermes scarf as a bag. You won’t be able to carry your groceries in it, but it can serve as a unique clutch to hold small items.
  • Take two ends of the scarf and tie them together.
  • Bring the ends to meet the other two corners of the scarf.
  • Take all four points and tie them together, leaving enough room to slip your arm in.

3) Wrap your Hermes scarf around your bag strap :

  • Fold your scarf in half lengthwise a few times until you create a long strand.
  • Tie one end of your scarf to the base of one end of your handbag strap.
  • Wrap the strap with the scarf.
  • Tie the loose end of your scarf to the other end of your bag strap.
